Georgia O’Keeffe Museum

Georgia O’Keeffe Museum

Location: Santa Fe, New Mexico
Overview:
Georgia O’Keeffe—a solitary figure essential to any conversation about American modern art. Active from the early 1900s, she brought innovation to the world of American contemporary art, and it was during the 1930s and ’40s that her name truly gained widespread recognition. In a postwar America searching for new cultural expression, O’Keeffe rode that wave, exploring a deep connection with nature through her iconic depictions of flowers, landscapes, and animal skulls. Her work is often seen as a powerful expression of femininity, while also standing as a symbol of individuality and independence. Beyond her art, O’Keeffe’s distinctive fashion style drew attention as well, influencing generations and continuing to captivate audiences to this day.

As I was completely immersed in Georgia O’Keeffe’s world of paintings,
Ryo, who had been walking a little ahead, came back to me, visibly excited.

“The booth up ahead is amazing,” he said.

And he was right.
We couldn’t believe what we were seeing—
It was such an astonishing and thrilling experience that we found ourselves unable to leave.

We already knew—this would have a major impact on our future creative work.

Our fascination with Georgia deepened even further,
so we headed straight to the gift shop
and boldly decided to buy one of her art books,
even though it was far too big and heavy to be buying while traveling.

For myself, I chose an “O” initial brooch—
a piece said to be exclusive to this place—
that resembled the one Georgia always wore.

We also picked up a logo T-shirt
featuring one of her most iconic motifs, the skull,
reimagined in a design by Santa Fe artist Christina Dallorso Kortz.
